Media Innovation Unit organizes a course on geographical information systems (GIS) using exclusively free software, with particular reference to GRASS. the lessons will be held by Faunalia, well known company in the field of the environmental and faunistic studies. The course has the duration of six weeks, beginning from April 2005, and the cadence of two afternoons a week, and those who addresses to all who use GIS, as an example university professionals (architects, engineers, biologists, agronomists, geologists, ARCHAEOLOGISTS) and students. The lessons will be held to Florence, in a equipped computer science classroom. Every class will not have more than ten students. The interested students will be able to learn how to install GRASS on the portable computer. The registration to the course has a cost of 250 euro to person.
