posticipata dal 30 gennaio al 19 febbraio.

AGGIORNAMENTO PRINCIPALI SCADENZE:

• 19 febbraio 2010: Termine per la presentazione abstracts
• 8 marzo 2010: Notifica dell'accettazione e pubblicazione web degli abstract
• 15 aprile 2010:Termine per la consegna dei paper camera ready

E' possibile proporre contributi su ogni aspetto inerente il progetto, lo sviluppo e l'uso di formati liberi e/o di software libero o open source in archeologia.

Sono previste sessioni per la presentazione di papers soggetti a recensione.

E' prevista anche una sessione poster per la presentazione di progetti in corso o recentemente conclusi.

Anche in questa edizione sarà organizzata una specifica sessione di laboratorio (OpenLAB). Quest'anno i laboratori dedicati all'incontro diretto con gli strumenti Open Source saranno dedicati a modellazione 3D
applicata all'archeologia, gestione di mesh 3D con particolare riferimento ai Beni Culturali e creazione e gestione di Database e applicazione in campo archeologico.

Every year we try to go at least to one large archaeoinformatics meeting in Europe (other than our Italian workshop). It's a neat way to meet new and old friends, keep ourselves (and our readers) updated about the latest achievements in the field, and let the world know what we have been doing lately, possibly gaining an increasingly wider audience for the whole “Open Archaeology” concept.
This year marks an epic fail in the organization of such conferences/meetings/workshops. Between November, 16th and 18th you can choose where you want to be: Heidelberg or Wien, “Archäologie und Computer” or “Scientific Computing and Cultural Heritage”. Both venues will do because both events have the very same dates, you see.

Il giorno 7 maggio 2009 si è tenuto a Genova, presso l'aula magna della Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia, il seminario sul tema “Diritti d'autore e banche dati per i beni culturali”, terzo ed ultimo appuntamento del ciclo di incontri: “Nuove ricerche e giovani ricercatori” organizzato, per il secondo anno consecutivo, dal grupporicerche della sezione di Genova dell'Istituto Internazionale di Studi Liguri (IISL).

A quasi una settimana dalla conclusione del 4° workshop “Free software, open source e open formats nei processi di ricerca archeologica”, riesco finalmente a condividere qualche pensiero disorganico che ho raccolto nei due giorni di incontro, che sono stati veramente intensi. In questa non-sintesi mi soffermerò su alcuni aspetti in particolare, e non ho nessuna pretesa di riuscire a riassumere l'intero corso delle due giornate. Credo che la migliore sintesi possa risultare da una pluralità di interventi: segnalo per ora l'entusiasmo dell'amico Mario Trabucco.

Ricordiamo che il workshop si svolgerà i giorni 27 e 28 aprile 2009, presso la sede centrale del CNR di Roma.
Il progetto IOSA sarà presente con due interventi e un laboratorio introduttivo sulla statistica in archeologia, basato sul Wiki di Archeologia Quantitativa.

The third and last day of the conference saw me and Elisa enter the National Bank hall around 11 in the morning, just in time to hear the CIDOC CRM presentation by the excellent Martin Doerr from ICS-FORTH. Formalization of knowledge in terms of semantic entities is a crucial task for the next decades, but I believe we aren't yet outside the experimental. At least until some easy and efficient tools come out, best if they are free open source software tools.

I foundthe talk by Christos Galanis about a Greek thesaurus very interesting: he was basically exposing the same set of problems and related approach we had been discussing on Saturday: it's absurd to retain copyright over works that date to many centuries ago, and the benefits of fostering free circulation of knowledge are plainly evident, furthermore from a public institution point of view.
